Personally Identifiable Information:

The Lighthouse Infomatics website collects personally identifying information only during the registration process. In addition, information may be collected in certain portions of our website in which you as the user specifically and knowingly decide to provide such information. Community or Guest book postings, on-line forms, surveys or suggestions are examples of where you might choose to provide this information. We reserve the right to use such information for our internal purposes only.

Information submitted at the time of registration may be used for marketing and promotional purposes by Lighthouse Infomatics. The Lighthouse Infomatics site will not share any personally identifiable information with any other company. "Cookies":

Cookies are pieces of information that a Web site transfers to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes while at the site. Cookies make Web-surfing easier by, among other things, saving your passwords and preferences for you. The use of cookies is an industry standard, and you'll find cookies at most major Web sites.

Cookies help make our website better, by showing how and when guests use the site. They also lets us track who is authorized to access our valuable, proprietary content. Many content improvements and updates are based on such data as total number of visitors and pages viewed. This information is most easily tracked with cookies. A cookie lets Lighthouse Infomatics remember that you've registered, which allows you to have faster access to our site.

The cookie itself does not contain any personally identifying information, although it may enable Lighthouse Infomatics to relate your use of the site to personally identifying information previously submitted by you, if any.

Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you'd prefer, you can set yours to refuse cookies. It is our intention that most areas of our site will function properly if you do so.

Lighthouse Infomatics reserves the right to amend this policy at any time. Notification of the existence of a new privacy policy or any changes or updates will be accomplished through a notice posted on this page.

Understanding privacy policies (adapted from Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6.0 Help):

A Web site's privacy policy describes the kind of information that the Web site collects, to whom that information is given, and how the information is used. Personally identifiable information is information that can be used to identify or contact you, such as your name, e-mail address, home or work address, or telephone number. However, a Web site only has access to the personally identifiable information if you decide to provide it, or through the choices you may make while visiting the site. For example, a Web site (including ours) cannot determine your e-mail address unless you choose to provide it. A Web site cannot gain access to other information on your computer.

If a Web site collects personally identifiable information, it may store the information in a cookie, a small file that is saved on your computer. You can adjust settings in your browser to control how cookies are handled. You can also periodically clear cookies from your computer. This clearing of cookies (and temporary Internet files) is included in a Lighthouse System Refresh. Because of this removal of cookies, some stored user names, passwords and preferences for regularly visited websites may have to be reset the next time you visit that website.
